Professor Narne Venkata Narasimham holds a Ph.D (1984) from the Department of Commerce and Business Administration, Sri Krishnadevaraya University, Anantapur. He obtained his Master of Commerce (1976) and Bachelor of Commerce (1974) from Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati.

He served as faculty member of the School of Management Studies, IGNOU for 32 years after joining IGNOU as Lecturer in Commerce in March 1987. He was selected as Reader in Commerce in August 1991 and Professor in Commerce in July 1998. He served as the Director of the School of Management Studies for two terms – first term from August 1999 to July 2002, and the second term from August 2005 to July 2008. He had a short stint of over a year (March 2008 to August 2009) as the Director (I/C) of Academic Coordination Division

He was involved in most of the University bodies and top level committees, including the Board of Management, by the University top Management. He made significant contribution in designing, development and delivery of several Programmes and Courses of the School from undergraduate to Ph.D levels. He was also involved in developing video and audio lessons for various courses. He served Wawasan Open University, Malaysia as Dean of the School of Business and Administration during January 2012 to January 2016. He was formerly Director of the School of Management Studies, IGNOU for two terms (August 1999 – July 2002 & August 2005 – July 2008). During this period, he served in all the top bodies,
including the Board of Governance, of the WOU.

Before his association with IGNOU, he conducted post doctoral research as a Research Fellow and Visiting Scientist for the Resource Management Programme at ICRISAT, Hyderabad and also as a Consultant at the Centre for Economic and Social Studies, Hyderabad. His research interests include Agricultural Economics, Agro Pricing and Marketing, Financial Markets and ODL system.

Prof Narasimham had lent his expertise as Managing Editor (2004-2009) and Associate Editor (1999 – 2003) of The Indian Journal of Commerce, the quarterly publication of the All Indian Commerce Association. He established its brand as a quality professional journal.

Professor Narasimham has been member of several accreditation and recognition committees, including that of UGC, AICTE, NAAC, DEC and AIU. He has been associated with several Universities and educational institutions of national repute in the capacity of expert in governing bodies, selection committies, board of studies, Ph.D evaluation, etc.
