Prof. Satyakam

Pro-Vice Chancellor

A renowned Hindi critic, memoir-writer, a distinguished editor of an esteemed literary journal ‘Sameeksha’, a columnist of repute and a translator, Prof. Satyakam has had his higher education M.A. in Hindi (Gold Medal) & Ph.D. from University of Patna : Working as Professor Since 2004, Prof. Satyakam has been making a significant contribution to the academic and literary spheres and innovative pursuits in Distance Education as a faculty of Hindi in the School of Humanities, IGNOU for last 32 years. He has been vouched upon for his academic excellence, as Pro-Vice-Chancellor, IGNOU, the office he joined on 19th July 2019. Before joining this office, he has held the Position of Director, School of Humanities, IGNOU from 1st Oct., 2016 to 19th July 2019. He has been entrusted with various responsibilities of IGNOU and other Universities and academic bodies, including member Board of Management, IGNOU.
 
Prof. Satyakam has made a remarkable contribution to the literary and academic compasses. He has published 8 books to his credit including authored works on literary criticism and a memoir manifesting his experiences as visiting Professor at Bulgaria. He has also published to his credit 4 books (translated) and about 200 research papers, articles and book reviews among others. His critical and analytical approaches and research orientation bring out new insights and new findings in the areas of literature and research, pondered upon by him. His new propositions invite inevitable attention to the readers, researchers and lovers of literature.
 
His areas of specialization include: Hindi Criticism, Critiquing fiction, distance education, media studies and applied translation. Ten students have been awarded Ph.D. degrees under his Supervision.
 
Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR) MoEA, GoI, nominated Prof. Satyakam as visiting Professor to the University of Sofia for a period of 2 years, in 2006, having accorded his academic credentials. His academic visits to the nations abroad include South Africa, Belgium, United Kingdom, France and Hungary have also been testimonies to the literary and international relations, exchange of knowledge and teaching foreign students through ICTs and web technologies. He has attended and presented papers in 77 National Conferences/seminars and 06 International conferences. Prof. Satyakam has represented the delegation of IGNOU in World Hindi Conference at Johansberg and Mauritius.
 
The Programme on Radio Broad Casting, designed and developed by him, is a pioneering Innovative programme by teaching through distance Education.
