Dr. Abrar Ahmad joined IGNOU as Deputy Registrar on 31.5.2022 and posted to work in Material Production and Distribution Division (MPDD). He handles matters related to production, printing, and distribution of study materials for various programmes offered by IGNOU. He also handles the allied matters related to MPDD viz. Printing Unit, Student Support Cell (SSC) and Marketing Unit.

Dr. Abrar Ahmad is an alumnus of the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) and holds M.Sc and M.Phil Degrees in Statistics from AMU and Ph.D from Integral University Lucknow. He has published 15 research papers and two book chapters. He has successfully attended more than 50 refresher courses/short-term training programmes/professional development programmes/workshops etc. related to university administration. He has attended 15 national/international conferences and presented research papers.

Prior to joining IGNOU, he served as Assistant Registrar in the Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) Hyderabad from 21.7.2007 to 30.5.2022 (about 15 years) and Section Officer from 19.12.2005 to 20.7.2007, where he was posted in the Vice-Chancellor’s office, Planning & Development unit. His primary duty was to provide executive-level administrative support with general administrative correspondence, presentations, compiling and disseminating information, helping to ensure grant and university policy compliance, development and implementation of University education policy, drafting policy matters and handling confidential and/or sensitive information and materials. He also assigned additional duties and responsibilities as Nodal Officer/Liaison Officer of All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE), Statistical Cell, Reservation Cell (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwD), Hindi Rajbhasha cell, Central University portal, University activity monitoring portal etc. He served as member in several university level committees and coordinated meetings.

He also briefly served in National Sample Survey Organization (NSSO-FOD), Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation, Government of India, Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow and G.B. Pant Social Science Institute, Prayagraj (Allahabad), U.P as project staff prior to his selection as Section Officer at MANUU (Central University) in 2005.
