Dr. Bharat Bhushan

Director

Dr. Bharat Bhushan holds Ph.D. Degree from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi in Geography, PG Diploma in Distance Education and PG Diploma in Urban Planning and Development. Dr. Bharat Bhushan joined Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) in the erstwhile Distance Education Council (DEC) in 1994 as one of the founder’s Academics. Dr. Bhushan has more then 27 years of experience of working in Educational Administration. Before joining DEC of IGNOU, Dr. Bhushan worked in National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), New Delhi. He has served DEC for more then 20 years in various capacities and also as its Director. He was member of various Expert Committees at DEC, UGC, MHRD & IGNOU. He is serving/has served various Universities on Board of Management, Executive Council, Academic Council, Research Council, Task Forces, High Power Committees and Member of Selection Committees. He has been participating in National and International Conferences/Seminars and has visited almost all Open Universities and major ODL providers of Conventional Universities in the Country. He has been associated in Design and Development of Norms and Guidelines for various schemes of ODL and other Policy Documents. In the past, Dr. Bhushan has served as Director, Distance Education Council, IGNOU and Director, Distance Education Bureau, University Grants Commission. While working at DEC and DEB which were apex bodies for Open and Distance Learning (ODL) system in the country and General Higher Education respectively, in different capacities, he had gained wide ranging experience in all aspects of University Management, Academic Administration. Currently, he is serving as Director, Student Service Centre (SSC), Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi.
