Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing (PHDNS)

Minimum Duration: 3 Years
Maximum Duration: 6 Years
Course Fee: Rs. 16,800
Minimum Age: No bar
Maximum Age: No bar

Eligibility:

Master’s Degree and/or M.Phil. Degree Nursing. (Refer Student brochure of Research Unit for more details)

Qualifies in the entrance examination conducted by IGNOU at the National level.
 
 
Duration of Programme :
The minimum and maximum duration after registration for the Ph.D. Programme shall be three years and six years respectively. The women candidates and Persons with Disability (more than 40% disability) may be allowed a relaxation of two years for Ph.D. in the maximum duration.

The maximum duration can be extended by one year with the approval of the Vice Chancellor. In such cases a prescribed fee will have to be paid by the student for the period of extension.

 

 

The PhD Programme in Nursing was launched with the objective of enabling the nursing personnel to develop advance research skills in nursing and to prepare the nurse educators, administrators and practitioners to carry out systematic research to improve the quality of nursing care. The programme will enable the nursing personnel to give evidence-based nursing care to patients/ clients in various settings including evidence based nursing education and practice.

Objectives

• Enable the nursing personnel to develop advanced nursing research skills.
• Prepare the nurse educators, administrators and practitioners to carry out systematic research to improve the quality of nursing care.
• Enable the nursing personnel to give evidence based nursing care to patients/clients in various setting.
• Develop models and theories based on health care concepts applicable in Indian setting.
