Prof. Rashmi Sinha
Professor
Prof Rashmi Sinha joined IGNOU in 2010 as Reader, Discipline of Anthropology, School of Social Sciences. She was Programme Coordinator for Masters in Anthropology and PhD in Anthropology till 2018 and Coordinator for Bachelors Degree Program till 2019. She is Programme Coordinator for soon to be launched Postgraduate Diploma in Forensic Anthropology. For the Masters programme, she is the course coordinator of two courses, Physical Anthropology and Human Growth and Development. She is also course coordinator of the core courses Introduction to Biological Anthropology, Fundamentals of Human Origin and Evolution, Human Growth and Development, Forensic Anthropology and the elective course Physiological Anthropology, for the soon to be launched B.Sc. (Hons) Anthropology under UGC’s Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) and the course on Fundamentals of Biological Anthropology for B.A. General. Prof. Sinha is Coordinator for the course Physiology and Sports Anthropology for UGC’s E-PG pathshala.
Prof. Rashmi Sinha is an alumnus of University of Delhi, received JRF/ Indian Council of Medical Research for pursuing her PhD which was awarded from same university. She has been recipient of Post Doctoral Fellowship from University Grants Commission has also worked under the Women Scientist Scheme in the Department of Science and Technology. Her area of specialization is Growth and Development, Nutritional Anthropology, Forensic Anthropology, Human Physiology and Obesity research in Physical Anthropology. Prof. Sinha is on Editorial Board-Area Editor (Social Sciences), Everyman’s Science-A publication of Indian Science Congress Association. Prof. Sinha was an Ad-hoc Lecturer in the Department of Anthropology, University of Delhi, Delhi. To her credit she has publications in National and International Journals of repute and also presented papers in national and international conferences/seminars. She has three edited books to her credit: Obesity: A multidimensional approach to contemporary global issue, Anthropology and Health and Issues and Perspectives in Anthropology. Prof. Sinha was awarded Teaching and Research Career Achievement Award in 2018; she is also Member, Academic Council for the National Resource Centre (NRC) in Anthropology.
