Dr. Debal K Singharoy


Prof. Debal K. SinghaRoy is currently Professor of Sociology IGNOU, and  Head Gandhi and Peace Studies, IGNOU. He was the former Director, Academic Coordination Division, IGNOU, New Delhi. He possesses 35 years of teaching and research experiences and good length of administrative experiences in the university system
He is a recipient of an Australian Government Endeavour Fellowship, 2010   Commonwealth Fellow and Visiting Professor of Sociology of Social Movements United Kingdom (2006-2007); a Fellow with the Alternative Development Studies Programme, Netherlands (2003); Visiting Research Fellow in the University of Alberta, Canada (2001 and 2018); Visiting scholar in the La Maison des Sciences de l’Homme, Paris, (1999 & 2007). In 2018 he was also a visiting Professor University of McMaster, Hamilton, Canada as Shastri-Indo Canadian Visiting Fellow. He has published 10 books and over 80 research papers, and chapter in reputed national and international journals, encyclopedia and scholarly volumes. His forthcoming book is on Patriotism and Partition

Professor SinghaRoy is member of Board of Management of IGNOU, Executive Council PSSOU, and Academic Council, Research Board and Board of Studies in several universities in the country. He has completed research projects of ICSSR, CWDS, UNDP and various other organization and designed and developed academic curriculum for various national and international universities.
