Dr. N. Ramya is a trained Psychiatric Social Worker. Her research interests are Student Mental Health of Marginalized Sections, Casework, Counselling, Community health, Contemporary Social Work Methods and Open Distance Learning. She did her B.A in Economics (Rural Management) from Holy cross college and M.S.W. in Medical & Psychiatry from Bishop Heber College, Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirapalli. She did her M.Phil degree in Psychiatric Social Work from NIMHANS, Bangalore and she qualified SLET and NET in the year 1999 and 2002 respectively. She holds a Ph.D degree in Social Work from Bharathidasan University. Prior to joining IGNOU, she worked as Lecturer in Thanthai Hans Rover College, Perambalur, and Bharathidasan University Trichy, Tamil Nadu, during the period 2002-2004. She had an experience of handling National Mental Health programme in Ministry of Health and Family welfare, Govt. of India as a Consultant in the Year 2008. She has published many articles in National and International Journals and presented papers in National Seminars. Presently she is the coordinator for MSW Counselling (ODL) and Post Graduate Diploma in Social Work Counselling (PGDCOUN: ODL)Programme in the School of Social Work.
