Currently, he is working as Assistant Professor, School of social work, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi, India. His area of interests are: Expressed Emotion in Schizophrenia and Bipolar Affective Disorders, Poverty and Mental Health, Addiction disorders (especially, Alcohol, Cannabis and Nicotine), Suicide Prevention, School Mental Health and Preventive and Promotive Mental health in the community. He has presented 22 research papers in national and international conferences including Japan and USA. He has publishedaround 25 articles/books/chapters in National andInternational peer reviewed journals and also written around 40 articles in Indian newspapers (Kannada and English language). He has given 56 talks in radio and 11 talks in TV on various mental health issues.   Also conducted around 100 trainings / seminars on different issues of mental health.  He has been involved in street plays, short film making, poetry writing, NSS programme, and other community programmes. As a Social Workfaculty and trained Mental Health Professional in the field of Social Work or Mental health, he has been involved in activities of Clinical Work,Supervision, Training, Research and Community Mental Health activities.Presently, Dr.V.KannappaSetty is cordinating BSW online programme and Ph.Dprogramme in the school of social work.
