Professor
M.A., Ph.D. in Sanskrit, Vykaranacharya (MA Grammar), M.A. Distance Education, P.G. Diploma in Distance Education and Journalism and Mass Communication and Certificate in Translation. With early orientation in Sanskrit, pursued research and compilation of oral teachings in Kashmir Shaivism under the guidance of Lakshman Joo Raina, a renowned scholar of Kashmir-Shaivism. As broadcaster and planner, served All India Radio in Kashmir, Delhi and Himachal Pradesh for 11 years. Significantly contributed to Indological series of State University of New York Press (SUNNY) under Shaiva Fellowship in its landmark publications - Shiva-Sutras, Secret-Supreme, Pratyabhijnakarika and Tantraloka. Joined IGNOU as academic and served Himachal Pradesh and Jammu Kashmir Regional centers and established LSCs in Tribal & border regions. Awarded for Best Essay ‘Higher Education Vision 2020’ by IGNOU in 2007 and felicitated by BHASHA Research Foundation, People’s Linguistic Survey of India. Joined School of Translation Studies and Training as Reader in 2009, re-designated as Associate Professor (2012); Director, School of Translation Studies and Training from June, 2017. Designed, Developed and Coordinating M.A. (Translation Studies), M.Phil and Ph.D. Programmes.
Specialization areas include; Sanskrit, Translation Studies, Translation Theories and Practice, Officialese, Media & Culture in Translation and Distance Education. Translated J&K, Himachal, Bihar and National Hindi Volumes of PLSI under Bhasha Research Foundation, translated and vetted Gender Education Modules and People, History & Culture of North East India Vol. NCERT. Coordinated major Translation project of FSSAI English Volumes into 11 Indian Languages. Translated Nagendra’s Ras Siddhant into English, Mamang Dai’s short story collection “The Legend of Pensam” and Human Rights and Environment Volume.
Contributed more than 30 Research Papers in various journals. Member of academic bodies and Research Institutes. Invited as Guest Speaker, Chaired sessions in Seminars, Conferences and Refresher Programmes. 6 Ph.D. and 2 M.Phil. students have been awarded Research Degrees.
