Prof (Dr) Ashok Kumar Gaba

Professor

Dr. Gaba is a Professor in the School of Vocational Education & Training (SOVET), IGNOU. He is having about 32 years experience as a faculty/researcher/trainer in ODL and VET System. He has been with the SOVET since April, 2009 onwards. . Before joining to SOVET (2009), he was associated with Staff Training and Research Institute of Distance Education (STRIDE), IGNOU (1997-2009), National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) formerly known as NOS (1992-97), National University of Educational Planning and Administration (NUEPA) formerly known as NIEPA (1990 and 1992) and Association of Indian Universities (1989 and 1991). His interest areas are: Vocational Education & Skill Development, Open, Distance and Online Learning, Instructional Design/Curriculum Development, Research Methodology, Training, and Economics of Education.

He has coordinated 17 vocational programmes (78 courses) in collaboration with industry and contributed in course writing/revision activities. He is a supervisor of number of Ph.D’s students. At present, he is coordinating Ph.D, (Vocational Education), Master of Science (Information Security) (MSCIS), Post Graduate Diploma in Information Security (PGDIS) and Certificate in Fashion Design (CFDE) programmes.
His has authored research papers published (n=45) in national and international journals (USA, UK, Malaysia, South Korea, Japan, Turkey & Norway). He presented research papers on different themes of distance and vocational education in national and international conferences held at UK, Austria, New Zealand, Germany, Hong Kong and Malaysia ( ORCID: https://orcid.org/0000-0001-5235-4482).
He is an expert committee member of various committees and statutory bodies of IGNOU and national reputed educational institutions. He has been widely consulted by national reputed institutions like NIOS, NCERT, PSSCIVE (NCERT), CBSE, UGC, Ministry of Education formerly known as MHRD and Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India.
He acted as a Resource Person/Coordinator/Experts/Key Note Speaker in various training programmes/workshops/seminars organised within India and Abroad.
He was Associate Editor of Global Journal of Open, Flexible and Distance Learning and Executive Editor of e-Journal of Educational Technology, EduTech (http://www.edutech.net.in/Editors.htm) and a member of Editorial Board of Indian Journal of Vocational Education, PSSCIVE, NCERT, Bhopal.
