To commemorate the vigilance week starting 28th October, 2019 IGNOU employees committed themselves to working following the ethical code of conduct in work and personal life. This year the Vigilance Week would be observed from 28th October, 2019 to 2nd November, 2019 with the theme “Integrity: A Way of Life”.

The pledge was administered by Prof. Nageshwar Rao, Vice Chancellor, IGNOU to all the employees of the University at a ceremony held at Baba Saheb Ambedkar Convention Centre (CC).

The corruption has been a major obstacle in economic, political and social progress of the country. We all need to work in tandem to eradicate the menace of corruption from our lives. The government, citizens all need to do their bit to get rid of corruption from all walks of life from our country. To achieve this all citizens need to be vigilant and commit themselves to standards of honesty and integrity at all times to support the fight against corruption.

Observance of the Vigilance Awareness Week every year is part of the multi-pronged approach of the Central Vigilance Commission.

Integrity Pledge

I believe that corruption has been one of the major obstacles to economic, political and social progress of our country. I believe that all stakeholders such as Government, citizens and the private sector need to work together to eradicate corruption.

I realize that every citizen should be vigilant and commit to the highest standards of honesty and integrity at all times and support the fight against corruption.

I, therefore, pledge:

• To follow probity and rule of law in all walks of life;

• To neither take nor offer bribe;

• To perform all tasks in an honest and transparent manner;

• To act in the public interest;

• To lead by example exhibiting integrity in personal behaviour;

• To report any incident of corruption to the appropriate agency.

The university used social media platforms, viz., Twitter, Whatsapp and Facebook to promote and spread awareness of the Vigilance Awareness Week.
