IGNOU VC Prof. Nageshwar Rao holds Online Session to address Students’ Concerns

Prof. Nageshwar Rao, Vice-Chancellor IGNOU addressed the students to quell their concerns related to various issues faced by them on account of this COVID pandemic in accessing services from the university through an video online session broadcast via IGNOU Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/OfficialPageIGNOU) and YouTube channel (https://youtu.be/hs1Wvd_k04g) of eGyankosh. He assured the students that the university including the faculty members, employees etc., are striving to provide them the services even in these difficult situations and appealed to them to have patience and stay calm.

Prof. Nageshwar Rao asked the students in his virtual address to follow appropriate behavior and also sensitize others as IGNOU Brand Ambassador. He told them that the university has been receiving constant feedback from various channels and trying our best to address those concerns. He conceded that work has been hampered due to the lockdown but IGNOU fraternity has been working as much as possible to provide the services. He informed that iGram portal has received 70K grievances (queries pertaining to evaluation, exams. related etc.,), and 62K have been responded to. Fresh registration for degrees of 34th Convocation may also be done by the learners and Link for June 2021 exams are already opened, he shared in the address.

Prof. Rao said that with 3 million plus student strength, the university was successful in conducting examinations for 3 Lakh students in October, 2020 for final year students, and 5-6 Lakh students appeared in the TEE Feb/March 2021 and the university has been trying to update marks as fast as possible & declare results. Informing about the evaluation process hampered due to the pandemic, Prof. Rao informed that 12 Lakh assignments have been updated and 3 Lakh have been updated in the last 3 days at the website and 21K results have been declared completely and the result of 17 Lakh students out of 19 Lakh students are also updated.

He also informed the students that keeping in view the difficulties being faced by the learners, Re-evaluation date has been extended to let students submit till 31st May and a separate portal has been opened for degree certificate distribution of 34th Convocation to facilitate registration and distribution. Assignments can also be submitted till 31st May online/offline to RC/LSC, he added. As per the university notification, the students of 1st and 2nd years who have been promoted without exams due to the pandemic online mark-sheets are also being issued to them based on their current assignment marks and last year performance. Assuring the students who got promoted under the scheme about the paid Exam fee by the promoted students, he said that it will be adjusted in the 2nd year or 3rd year as the case may be.

He urged the learners to make use of electronic/digital media for accessing study material through eGyankosh which includes archived videos as well as GyanDarshan and GyanVani TV and FM channels. 12 lakh students have accessed study material through the mobile app this year, IGNOU VC informed. He also highlighted the four Swayam Prabha channels and 9 e-resources notified by UGC on 25th March, 2020 including National Digital Library for continuous learning at home.

Prof. Rao in his address also covered Fresh admissions, which will start in June, 2021 and Re-registration has already started for July 2021 session and students can access the online official social media outlets (Twitter- @OfficialIGNOU, Instagram- @ officialpageignou) and IGNOU and RCs websites for notifications and other announcements from the university.

Prof. Nageshwar Rao said that the university is committed to providing the best services to its learners and to take care of their queries related to mentoring, counseling, examinations, admissions and other related concerns, Special Online Sessions along with Hello IGNOU will soon be held by IGNOU HQ and RCs
