Workshop on Research Methodology

Prof. Gopinath Pradhan, Vice Chancellor, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) today inaugurated a three day (12-14 Sept 2012) Faculty Development Programme workshop on Research Methodology organized by School of Management Studies (SOMS) in collaboration with SPSS South Asia Pvt Ltd, Bangalore at the University campus.

In his inaugural address VC stated that IGNOU is the largest university in the world for Open and Distance Learning which has been established to maintain standards of distance learning for its quality and brand name. It has been the objective of IGNOU to launch socially useful programmes for democratization of education. The aim of this workshop is to prepare faculty members of providing them with necessary Research and Statistical tools to enable them to make a Research Design, he added.

Prof. Nawal Kishor, Director, School of Management Studies, IGNOU in his address suggested that a Research lab should be developed in the campus of IGNOU in line with IITs and IIMs. Since IGNOU has already developed high quality course material for large number of learners, it is now opportune time that attention may be concentrated on research activities in the campus, he added. The main objective of this Faculty Development programme workshop is to develop research skill and hands on practice for analyzing the research data and create research culture at IGNOU.

It was attended by various faculty members while experts from IP University, Prof. Sanjeev Mittal and SPSS South Asia Pvt Ltd, Bangalore, Mr. Rakesh Purohit, Prof. OP Wali from IIFT, Delhi and Prof. RK Jain addressed the gathering.
