Dr Kalam Commemorated on his Birth Anniversary at IGNOU

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Delhi commemorated the 84th Birth Anniversary of Dr. APJ Kalam. This function was inaugurated by Prof Nageshwar Rao Vice Chancellor IGNOU along-with Prof Sushma Yadav, Pro-vice chancellor, Mr. Sanjay Parikh, Senior Advocate Supreme Court, Dr. Mayank Dwivedi, Senior-Scientist, DRDO , P. Venkateshwar Rao Jr, Editorial Consultant DNA Newspaper and the chairperson of the function Prof. P.R. Ramanujam were also present during the Inaugural function.

This event was also webcasted from IGNOU, Convention hall and all 56 Regional centres took part in the same.

Dr. V.V. Reddy, Convener of the programme formally welcomed all the distinguished guests. Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Sushma Yadav said “Dr. Kalam was people’s president; he made the Rashtripati Bhawan as people’s bhawan.” Prof. Yadav said that one should live life like Kalam and part away like kalam, leaving love behind.

Prof. Nageshwar Rao, Vice Chancellor IGNOU shared his views and thought over Dr. Kalam, he discussed about his book Vision-2020. He said, “One should listen his sayings, adhere the issues he has raised and try to resolve them.” Dr. Kalam was more of a Teacher than a scientist as he was always ready to teach.

Parsa Venkateshwar Rao Jr, Editorial Consultant DNA Newspaper shared his understanding about Dr. Kalam. He was very down to earth man, when I asked about Missile mission he said- I want to share the information but can only share after the project.” Mr. Sanjay Parikh, Senior Advocate Supreme Court talked about Dr. Kalam’s views on Death Sentence.

Dr. Kalam’s Colleague in DRDO Dr. Mayank Dwivedi shared his experiences with Dr. Kalam and narrated how the Missile Man inspired him as a leader. He further stated that “Dr. Kalam taught me how to be perfect in one thing and knowing all simultaneously. He gave me an opportunity to work with different teams and also allowed me to choose my own interest. He was a visionary person who had dreams in Mind and before leaving us he fulfilled some and left some un-fulfilled for us.”

The speeches were followed by a Telefilm/documentary on Dr. Kalam. The Event ended with prize distribution for the competitions held before i.e. Essay and Painting Competition. Musical evening and cultural programme was also organized, where wards of IGNOU employees participated.
