Transmission

The audio/video programmes produced at EMPC are broadcast/telecast over Gyan Darshan, Gyan Vani and Edusat Channels of IGNOU and the National Channels of AIR/ Doordarshan regularly.

Gyan Darshan

It is a satellite-based national educational and development channels, by the Ministry of Human Resource Development and Prasar Bharati with IGNOU as the nodal agency. Gyan Darshan expanded into a bouquet of channels namely GD-1, GD-2, GD-3 and GD-4, being uplinked from earth station at EMPC. 

·    GD 1 is 24 hr channel having the programmes produced by IGNOU and best educational programmes from other educational channels of Gyan Darshan channels.

·    GD 2 is devoted entirely to interactive distance education, which is a unique feature of the bouquet of channel.

·    GD 3 (Eklavya Channel) is 24 hr Channel which brings quality education to the student pursuing engineering throughout the country.

·    GD 4 (Vyas Channel) is 24 hr Channel which provide quality education to the students pursuing higher education throughout the country.

Gyan Vani

IGNOU, under the Gyan Vani FM Radio initiative has set up a network of 26 Stations. The frequencies and timing of transmission is given below.

GV channels offer a mix of programmes aimed at the pre-primary, primary, secondary, technical, and higher education, continuing and distance education, in the areas of environment, science & technology, health, social justice, women’s empowerment, career counseling and so on.  

Edusat

• Transmission of live teleconferencing session through EDUSAT, based on interactive two way audio – two way video is available across the country through more than 134 SIT terminals. (Simulcast with GD-2).

Audio-Video Library

Audio-video tape library has over 2735 video & 13500 audios.

Classrooms/Conference rooms

Classroom/conference/ meeting room (20-30 person) facilities are available at Sanchar Kendra. The facilities as well as services of competent production and technical staff are available for production, training and consultancy to other educational/ training institutions.


IGNOU uses the facility for following activities:

• Tele-counseling to student groups;
• Training Study Centre Counselors /Coordinators;
• Administrative interaction with Regional Centre functionaries;
• Extended Contact Programme (ECP) with students.
• Teaching- end studios located at IGNOU campus, New Delhi and about 850 receiver ‘nodes' located in IGNOU Regional Centers and Study Centers.
