Prof. Manjulika Srivastava is amongst the few Indians to have done a doctorate in the field of Open and Distance Education. She has done her graduation, post-graduation and M.Phil in Liberal Arts from University of Delhi. She has been working with IGNOU since 1989 and has held three Director positions at IGNOU: Director Academic Coordination (since Nov. 2015 onwards), Director Campus placement (July 2012- June 2013) and Director, Distance Education Council (2008 to 2010).
She is currently holding the charge of Director Academic Coordination Division and also working as a Professor of Distance Education at the Staff Training and Research Institute of Distance Education of IGNOU. Prior to that she was working at the Distance Education Council (DEC)under IGNOU, and subsequently Distance Education Bureau (DEB) under University Grants Commission, which is the apex body for Open and Distance Learning (ODL) system in the country.
She has done extensive research in the area of distance education and has published 8 books, around 70 articles and research papers mainly in the area of Distance Education both nationally and internationally. She has participated in national and international conferences and has visited all the major Open Universities in the world. She has coordinated the course design and delivery of programmes of the IGNOU. She has edited courses and written course material for IGNOU and other OUs. She has conducted several staff development programmes for distance educators in universities all over India and also for UNESCO, UNDP and COL.
She is serving/has served on academic, research and management boards of several universities in the country, including IGNOU.
She was awarded the Faculty Research fellowship for the year 2002, by the Shastri Indo- Canadian Institute and was attached to Athabasca University, Canada’s Open University.
She was also awarded the AAOU Staff Exchange Fellowship by Korea National Open University for the year 2004.
She was sponsored by Commonwealth Educational Media Centre of Asia (CEMCA) from 17-21 March, 2014 to visit Open University Malaysia, Wawasan Open University and Malaysian Qualifications Agency.
She also served as a consultant for CEMCA- COL for a project from Feb- March 2015.
She has been nominated by the IGNOU to consolidate views of Stakeholders and prepare the Recommendations on “ODL and Online Courses” for the New Education Policy for the Ministry of Human Resource Development (August – December, 2015).
