An MOU was signed on December 21, 2005, with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) under the Ministry of Agriculture to promote cooperation in the field of agricultural education in open and distance mode.

The major objectives were to establish mutual relations between the scientific and technical divisions of the respective organisations, identifying learning needs of researchers, extension workers and farm workers, sharing expertise in developing, testing and evaluating open and distance learning approaches, methods and materials and exchanging scientific literature, information and methodology.
