Mohammad Saleem is Professor of Arabic Studies. He specializes in Modern and Innovative Methods of Teaching Arabic and Development of Arabic pedagogy in Distance/Online Mode. Apart from his area of specialization he takes keen interest in Classical Arabic and Persian texts, World Literature, Arabic, Urdu and Persian poetry and Political Philosophy.

Professor Mohammad Saleem has distinguished himself as the moving spirit behind several ground-breaking Academic Programmes/Courses like PhD in Arabic, MA in Arabic, Certificate in Arabic both ODL and Online Mode, Certificate in Persian (ODL) and one Arabic Course in BA under FYUP. The Certificate in Arabic Online designed by him as the best Online Programme by IGNOU in the year 2021.Similarly, two Arabic Courses designed by him have attracted a large number of learners from across the world.MA in Arabic(Distance Mode)designed and developed by him have attracted thousands of learners from India and abroad. The Arabic Course Communication Skill developed by him was selected by Ministry of External Affairs Government of India as one of the Twenty Courses from Five hundred courses available online, for offering to African students in the year 2022.

Professor Saleem has been awarded the distinguished alumni award by CAAS, JNU New Delhi in 2023.He has served as Board member of School of continuing Education, School of Health Sciences IGNOU. Presently he is School Board member of School of Foreign Languages and School of Sciences IGNOU. He is also member of Academic Council IGNOU and member of Centre Committee CAAS School of languages JNU New Delhi.
