Dr. Asheesh Kumar

Assistant Professor

Dr. Asheesh Kumar is a renowned name in the area of Sanskrit journalism. He is a famous Sanskrit news anchor, editor and reporter in DD news channel. He is a creative writer of Sanskrit plays. He got second prize in All India Sanskrit short play writing competition for the play Phesabukasya An?rakal?” by Delhi Sanskrit Academy, Govt. of Delhi. The plays written by him are staged on many occasions.
 
Presently he is an Assistant Professor of Sanskrit in Indira Gandhi National Open University [IGNOU], New Delhi. He has accomplished his doctorate in M?m??s? school of philosophy under the supervision of Prof. Om Nath Bimali, department of Sanskrit, university of Delhi, India. He has published 27 research papers/chapters in books in international/national research journals. He is the editor of one book titled “?odhapallavam” (Volume-1) published from New Delhi. Dr. Kumar has presented 13 research papers on various subjects in India and abroad. He is the Associate Editor/Editor of peer reviewed, refereed and indexed international journals of Jyotish, Sanskrit and Hindi research. He has organised 6 workshops, invited as a resource person/speaker by 17 international/national prestigious academic institutions, he has attended 36 international/national workshops and attended 25 international/national seminars/webinars/conferences.
 
Dr. Kumar has conducted several Sanskrit speaking camps in India and abroad like Australia, Sri Lanka and Singapore. His research interests are authenticating, editing and publishing manuscripts, design a curriculum for Sanskrit journalism specialization, exposure to Sanskrit literature to people with science and engineering, to work on simple standard Sanskrit, present jurisprudence and dharma??stra, buddhism and p?rvam?m??s? philosophy, analyzing the aspects which are common in between Sanskrit and Russian.
 

 

He has won more than 100 prizes in recitation (?lok??), quiz, speech, debate, ?lok?nt?k?ar?, ak?ara-?loka, ?al?k?-par?k??, veda-mantrocc?ra?a at college and university level. "Sanskrit Samaraadhak Samman" an honour given to him two times by Delhi Sanskrit Academy, Govt. of Delhi. Teacher Innovation Award” a national award given to him by the Sri Aurobindo Society for sustainable efforts towards promoting joyful and experiential teaching.
