Prof. Kaushalya (Kaushal Panwar)


 Prof (Dr) Kaushalya (KaushalPanwar) hails from Kaithal District in the state of Haryana. She completed her Graduation as well as Post Graduation in Sanskrit from Kurukshetra University. She has also got a Master’s degree in Hindi from Vinayaka Missions University Salem, Tamilnadu, and M.Phil. From Maharishi Dayanand University(MDU) Rohtak, Haryana. She obtained her Doctorate in Sanskrit from JNU, New Delhi. She started her career as an Assistant Professor in Sanskrit Department in 2008 with Motilal Nehru College (Morning) at the University of Delhi. She became an Associate Professor in the Department of Sanskrit in 2020. She is presently working as a Professor of Sanskrit Discipline in the School of Humanities at Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi from September 2021.

Her area of expertise and specialization include the Study of Dharmashastra and the position of Shudra (Shudra’s Woman) in Ancient History, Varna-System, Casteism, Language of Shudras, and Women. She has published 8 books among them, Sanhintaon Mein Shudra, Bharatiya Sanskrit Mein Shudra Evam Nari, Dharmshastriya Shudra Avadharana, ShudraStri: Prantantrata Evam Pratirodh, Translation and Edited book: Shudrahanikam (KARMLAKARA BHATT) Translation and Edited, Question of Human Rights: Indian Society, Creative writing Books in Hindi, Johadi (kahani Sangrah) Bavandaron Ke Beech (Autobiography). She has completed her Minor Research Project entitled “Shastron Mein Shura Stri Vimarsh’ by University Grants Commission, New Delhi.

She has published 21 research papers and articles in various National and International journals. Her literary criticism has received worldwide recognition in the domain of Sanskrit Dharmashastra. She has been admired by various social networking sites and her literary and academic contributions are widely cited.

She has been invited as a Discussant/Commentator in National and International Workshops/Symposiums and delivered 62 lectures through these platforms. Apart from this, she has presented 32 researcher papers in national and international seminars/ conferences and symposiums.
