Media Release on National Science Day at IGNOU

The National Science Day is celebrated all over India on 28th of February every year to commemorate the discovery of the Raman Effect by Nobel Laureate, Sir C. V. Raman in the year 1928. To celebrate this occasion, the School of Sciences, IGNOU, organised a poster competition for its students on a science related theme of their interest or on any of the following themes:
· Energy
· Environment
· Science for Development
· Basic Science
An exhibition of science toys/kits/teaching aids/learning materials and the entries of the poster competition was organised on 27.02.2015 from 10.30 am onwards at the IGNOU premises at Maidan Garhi, New Delhi. Four students of the Red Roses Public School , Saket displayed their science projects in the exhibition. The Prof.

Nageshwar Rao, Vice Chancellor and Prof. Sushma Yadav, Pro Vice Chancellor graced the occasion. The purpose of the exhibition was to create an interest in science among the IGNOU community, campus children and adults.


A Video Lecture by Dr. Shailesh Nayak, Secretary, Ministry of Earth Sciences on the topic Earth System Science and Society was also organised in the EMPC High Definition Studio of IGNOU


The exhibition was visited by a large number of people from the IGNOU community.
