Three day Training Programme for Semi Professional Assistants and Professional Assistants of IGNOU

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) held a 3 day training program from 10th Feb. to 12th February 2014 on Modernization and Management of Libraries in Open and Distance Learning (ODL) System for Semi Professional Assistants and Professional Assistants of IGNOU.

It was jointly organized by Staff Training and Research Institute of Distance Education (STRIDE) and Library and Documentation Division (L & DD)of IGNOU in the Convention Centre of IGNOU Hqtrs.

IGNOU is already using Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) on large scale including Library services to its distance learners as one of the component.

In his inaugural address Prof M.Aslam, Vice Chancellor, IGNOU emphasized the need of this training programme in modernization of library services at Study Centres and at headquarters so that we provide best possible library support to our distance learners. The participants of this programme will play key role in this direction.

Outside experts from vendor organizations will train the participants in e-resources, stock verification, accountability, new techniques in library management.

The inaugural session was attended by Prof. Sushma Yadav, PVC, IGNOU, Prof. Jaideep Sharma, Librarian I/C, L & DD, Prof.C.R.K. Murthy, Director, STRIDE, Dr. Seema Chandhok, Dy. Librarian,Ms. G.Mythili, Programe Cordinator and other faculty members.
