Dr. Satish R Gaikwad

Deputy Director (Academic)

The academic credentials of Dr, Satish R. Gaikwad includes MSc, MPhil and PhD in Biotechnology. He is currently working as Deputy Director (Academic) in Research Unit at IGNOU, New Delhi. He joined as Assistant Director in the erstwhile Distance Education Council (DEC) during 2012. Later he got promoted to Assistant Director (Senior Scale in 2016) and Assistant Director (Selection Grade in 2021). He has wast experience in the University System in General and ODL System in specific as his area of  work experience is spread across the disciplines like “University: Evaluation System, Student Support System, Regulatory System of Distance Education, Community Colleges Scheme, Admission System, Fellowships and Academic Financial Assistance(s), Publication Ethics, Scientific Research, Research and Methodology, Research Ethics, Evaluation Methodology, Finance and Establishments,”etc. He also worked with University Grants Commission (UGC) on deemed deputation.  Prior joining IGNOU, from 2008 to 2012 he worked as Research Officer (Scientific) and Head of the Research Division under an autonomous body of Ministry of Health & F.W., Govt. of India where he successfully completed three major funded projects and several minor projects funded by WHO and Ministry of Health & FW, Govt. Of India. He also successfully completed educational projects like introduction  of 48 hours certificate course in Yoga for Modern Medical Students  curriculum, Establishment of Learning Resource Centre of Yoga at MDNIY, Preparation of Yoga Atlas for WHO and Establishment of Advance Yoga Research Centre(s) (which are fully funded by Ministry of Health & FW, Govt. Of India) at NIMHANS, Bangalore; Defence Institute of Physiology and Allied Sciences (DIPAS), DRDO, Delhi; JIPMER, Puducherry; Govt. Medical College, Jammu and  Gujrat Ayurveda University, Gujrat. Earlier at the beginning of his career  from 2003 to 2007 he  worked as Guest Lecturer in the Deptt. of Biotechnology, Gulbarga University, Gulbarga (Karnataka Govt. State University). He has published as well as presented  research papers in both National and International  journals/conferences.
