Dr. Grace Don Nemching
Associate Professor
Dr Grace Don Nemching is currently working as Associate Professor in School of Extension and Development Studies (SOEDS), IGNOU. She has more than 13 years of teaching experience. Her specialisation includes the study of North –East Indian tribes, Gender, Issues in Development, Marginalised Communities. She was awarded PhD in 2008 (JNU), and completed M Phil in 2003 and MA in 2000 from Centre for the Study of Social Systems, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi. She attained her graduation in Sociology from Jesus and Mary College, Delhi University in 1998.
Dr Nemching has qualified for Senior Research Fellow with UGC and National Eligibility Test for Lectureship in Sociology. She has worked as a Researcher and Project Co-coordinator, Indian Social Institute, Lodhi Road, Delhi and as a guest lecturer in RAK College of nursing, Delhi University. She has worked as a lecturer in the department of sociology in Jesus and Mary College, Delhi University from July 2004 to August 2009, before joining as an Assistant Professor in School of Extension and Development Studies, Indira Gandhi National Open University in September, 2009.
She has presented papers in conferences, reviewed a book, written papers for Journals and has a published book titled 'Marriage, Family and Kinship among the Paite tribe of Manipur'. Her other academic activities included holding coaching classes for ST and SC candidates appearing for the MA entrance in Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi. She was Co-Convener for the North-East Students Forum in Jawaharlal Nehru University and was president of Siamsinpawlpi (North-East Students organisation), Delhi. She has written units for School of Extension and Development Studies, School of Gender and Development Studies, School of Social Work and has taken teleconferencing classes for Pan-Africa Network.
