Prof Nandini Sinha Kapur


Dr. Nandini Sinha Kapur (Ph.D, JNU) is a historian with nearly two decades of teaching experience in the University of Delhi. She joined SOITS in 2009. Dr. Nandini Sinha Kpur is the is author of three books., “State Formation in Rajasthan: Mewar During 7th -15th Centuries”, “Reconstructing Identities: Tribes, Agro-Pastoralists and Environment in Western India” (AD-7th -20th Century) and “Environmental History of Early India” published by Oxford University Press, 2011 (the 2nd reprint to this book came out in 2012) and has published a  range  of  research essays   in peer-reviewed   journals. 
She is the recipient of the prestigious Homi Bhabha fellowship and has been a visiting Scholar at Harvard, Chicago, Columbia, London and Leiden Universities. She was invited by University San Dieogo, USA in 2013 where she delivered two lectures on Environmental History and Hindu Traditions. She was invited and delivered a lecture, ‘Bhils in Conservation: Sacred Groves in Southern Rajasthan’ at International Tribal Festival, Central University of Jharkhand.
She has bagged Projects on “Participation of Saharia Tribes in Development activities for sustainable livelihood” awarded by Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, “A Comparative Study of the Environmental History of Marwar and Mewar” (Minor Research Project, UGC and Epigraphy Project, Under NMEICT, MHRD, Govt. of India.)


Currently, She is programme coordinator for B.A. and M.A. in philosophy. She is also jointly co-coordinating and designing of anODL programme in P.G. Diploma in Migration & Diaspora Studies (along with Dr. Sadananda Sahoo).
