Prof. Narayan Prasad

Professor

Dr. Narayan Prasad, Professor of Economics, prior to joining IGNOU, has worked in several reputed organizations like MRTP Commission, AIU, etc. He was awarded Post-Doctoral fellowship by UGC and visited France under the scheme Indo-French Cultural Exchange Programme. He was invited to deliver lectures on Vedanta in USA in the year 2001. He has contributed 28 Research Papers in National & International Journals and wrote following five books:

1. ‘Economics of College-Education: A Study of Non-Yiable Colleges (1993) published by Anmol Publications New Delhi.

2. Decent work: An Insight into IT Industry (2013) published by SAGE Publications under joint authorship with Ms. Nausheen Nizami.

3. Decent work: Concept, Theory and Measurement (2017) published by Palgrave Macmilan under joint authorship with Ms. Nausheen Nizami.

4. Human well-being: Concept, Theory and Measurement (2017) published by Index International under joint authorship with Ms. Nausheen Nizami.

5. Quality of Secondary Education In India: Concept and Measurement (2017) under publication with Springer Nature under joint authorship with Dr. Charu Jain.

He has designed and developed the courses on Research methods in Economics, Indian Economic Policy, Introductory Microeconomics, Intermediate Microeconomics I, Intermediate Microeconomics II, and one skill-enhancement course for University’s Honours Programme (Data Analysis). Presently he is teaching Research Methodology course to M.Phil. and Ph.D. students. Nine students have been awarded M.Phil Degree and thirteen Ph.D Degree (excluding three Ph.D students who’s Thesis are under evaluation) under his supervision. His areas of research interest are: Human Well-being, Human Development, Spiritual Economics and philosophical foundation of Economics. He has also worked as Director, Research Unit, IGNOU and Director, Academic Coordination, Division.
