Professor
Prof. B. S. Prakash is a Professor in Economics with M. Sc. in Statistics and Ph D in Economics. He has two Post-graduate Diplomas: one in Industrial Relations and Personnel Management and the other in Distance Education. He has a total of 37 years experience of which more than two decades are in research issues of manpower and employment. Major areas of publication include productivity trends in manufacturing sector, informal sector employment and issues of skill development. Published papers are in journals like Margin, Productivity, Indian Economic Journal, Indian Journal of Labour Economics, Manpower Journal, Journal of Educational Planning and Administration, etc. His experience in course development in the Distance Education System are in the areas of: (i) Social Sector Economics and Public Economics at M. A. level, (ii) Agricultural Economics at M Phil/Ph D level and (iii) Agricultural Development and Indian Economic Development at B. A. levels. In the recent years, for the CBCS B. A. Honours programme, he has developed courses in the areas of Indian Economy, Economics of Health and Education and Environmental Economics. He is also associated with the course development of Applied Econometrics at CBCS B. A. Honours level and coordination of Actuarial Economics at M. A. level. He has supervised and guided 5 M Phil and 5 Ph D students.
