Prof. R Baskar
Professor
Prof. R Baskar earned an M. Sc (Hons), followed by an M. Phil and PhD (1992) from Panjab University, Chandigarh. He was awarded Junior Research Fellowship (1988-90) from the Department of Science and Technology, Dr. K.S. Krishnan DAE Fellowship (1990), ICSC World Laboratory Scholarship (1990-1991) France, CSIR Senior Research Fellowship (1992-1993). Prof R Baskar was a DOD Research Associate at the Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology (1993) and UGC Research Associate at School of Environmental Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University (1993 to 1995). He is the Chairperson, Regional Centre, Geological Society of India, Delhi and Member, State Level Environment Impact Assessment Authority, Haryana.
Prof R Baskar was an Academic Guest at ETH Zurich, Technical University Munich, Centre for Geobiology Norway, Stockholm University Sweden, VTT Finland, Jagiellonian University Poland, and Slovak Caves Administration, Slovakia.
Prior to joining IGNOU, Prof R Baskar was Director of Public Outreach and Chairperson of the Department of Environmental Science and Engineering at Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar.
Prof R Baskar is involved in the planning, designing, developing, delivery and coordination of UG, PG and doctoral programs in Geology.
