UGC has Approved UGC-HRDC-Equivalent ‘Refresher’ and ‘Short-Term Professional Development’ Programmes of STRIDE-IGNOU since March 2022.
UGC has approved the Refresher Programmes and Short-Term Professional Development Programmes of STRIDE-IGNOU as equivalent to UGC-HRDC for all purposes, including API and CAS. This has been approved in the 78th meeting of the Academic Council of IGNOU.

Besides offering PGDDE and MADE as long-term Professional Development Programmes in Distance Education, STRIDE conducts short-term training programmes of various types and for varieties of academic, technical/professional, and non-academics/organizations in India and overseas.
Every year, training programmes ranging from 03 to 21 days on various aspects of distance education are conducted for staff working at IGNOU, in State Open Universities and Distance Education Institutes all over the country and abroad. Here are a few examples:

These programmes are offered at institutional, regional, national and international levels with the help of resource persons, training packages, teleconferencing and distance and online learning. The focus of these programmes is on the following functional areas.

Training programmes conducted in 2021
STRIDE completed training of about 78 newly appointed faculty of IGNOU through these Induction Programme during September-November, 2021).
 i. STRIDE organized three batches of Induction cum Orientation Programme for Newly Recruited Faculty of IGNOU November 22-26, 2021 at IGNOU Headquarters. Around 20 newly joined teachers in various departments/schools of IGNOU participated in this F2F programme. Second batch of Induction cum Orientation Programme for Newly Recruited Faculty of IGNOU from 22-28 October, 2021 at IGNOU Headquarters around 23 newly joined teachers in various departments/schools of IGNOU participated in this F2F programme.  First batch of Induction cum Orientation Programme for Newly Recruited Faculty of IGNOUfrom September 20-24, around 35 newly recruited faculties in various disciplines of various schools of IGNOU have been Inducted so far. These programmes aimed at familiarizing IGNOU activities and role of a teacher in Open and Distance Learning (ODL) system and also explained the reasons and importance of growth and development of Distance Education (DE) across the globe in general and IGNOU in particular. Further the participants have been given exposure to know the various steps involved in developing courses and programmes for IGNOU learners. It also gave a clear understanding of different Divisions and Centres of IGNOU and their respective activities in collaboration with Schools. The primary focus was to highlight the role of a teacher, responsibilities and accountability for the achievement and fulfilment of IGNOU objectives in the spirit of New Education Policy and its implementation.
 
ii. Faculty Development Programme on Research in Distance and Online Learning (Virtual Mode) 7-13 October 2021. About 70 participants attended this workshop. Research forms the backbone of scientific growth of the subject matter as well as growth of an institution. The Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Research in Distance and Online Learning would help the faculty (both teachers and academics) in formulating research proposals and conducting research which would lead to quality research publications and institutional quality. This programme would enable to refresh knowledge on research in distance and online learning and give insight with experiential knowledge in it.
 
iii. One week (05 days) virtual training for Newly Promoted Assistant Registrars from 23-27 August, 2021. About 40 Section Officers and Private Secretaries of IGNOU posted at the university Headquarters, Regional Centres and Regional Evaluation Centres attended this online programme. (Online Mode)
 
iv. International Workshop on Design and Development of Self Learning Materials for Distance, Online and Blended Learning (Through Virtual Mode) from 9 - 16, August 2021. Programme was attended by 27 National and 18 International participants mainly from National Open University of Nigeria. Programme covered mix of theoretical formulation and hands on experiences in ODL, online and blended learning.
v. Faculty Development Programme on Serving Students with Disabilities in Open, Distance and Online Learning (Through Virtual Mode) from 26th -30th April, 2021) About 28 participants from IGNOU faculty and academics attended this programme. For the exercise of human rights, the right to education is deemed as a central right and is considered itself as a human rights. The fundamental human right to education is protected by several international standards setting instruments and also by Constitution of India under article 21A. People with disabilities have minimal access to mainstream education and this puts a challenge in the pursuit of their right to education. Specific provisions can “ensure the right to education and encourage countries to adopt an approach that is inclusive for all, including those with disabilities
Training programmes conducted in 2020
STRIDE organized a National Workshop on Design and Development of Self-Learning Materials for Distance and Online Learning (Through Virtual Mode) October 12-18, 2020. About 40 participants had attended this workshop. The areas of development of self-learning materials in addition to various other aspects related to the Distance Education system. In view of new UGC guidelines for distance and online learning and the situation emerged with COVID-19, NEP 2020 and Teaching-Learning in higher Education.
 
STRIDE had organized Virtual Workshop/Faculty Development Programmes on ICT enabled Research during COVID Pandemic’, September 24-30, 2020. About 150 participants had attended this workshop. The outbreak of COVID-19 has resulted in paradigm shift in conduct of workshops, education and learning throughout the world and India in particular. Online teaching-learning has become need of the hour. Thus it has become essential to provide online teaching- learning to sustain the needs of the faculty members. This programme would enable to enhance knowledge on usage of ICT in research and give insight with experiential knowledge in it. (FDP-II)
 
STRIDE had organized Virtual Workshop/Faculty Development Programme on ICT enabled Research during COVID Pandemic,
17-21 August 2020, About 135 participants had attended this workshop. The outbreak of COVID-19 has resulted in paradigm shift in conduct of workshops, education and learning throughout the world and India in particular. Online teaching-learning has become need of the hour. Thus it has become essential to provide online teaching- learning to sustain the needs of the faculty members. (FDP-I)
 
STRIDE Organized Faculty Development Programme on Open, Distance and Online Learning: Emerging new realities: Bridging the Gap of Regular and ODL Mode for the faculty of Rajiv Gandhi University from 28 July, 2020 to 1 August, 2020 (Online Mode). In this background, the Institute of Distance Education, Rajiv Gandhi University, proposed in collaboration with STRIDE, IGNOU to conduct a Faculty Development Programme on Online Teaching Methods. The focus of this FDP is to learn the tools of online learning. 
 
STRIDE organized a ten-day FDP on ‘Research, Monitoring and Evaluation in Distance Education’ during March 12-21, 2020 at IGNOU headquarters. About 21 participants had attended this workshop. The main objective of the workshop was to orient the academics and teachers to appreciate the linkage between research and evaluation, and monitoring of academic programmes and other ODL activities. The participants also developed research proposals in a variety of areas of Open, Distance and Online learning.
STRIDE had organized Refresher/Ten days Faculty Development Programme (FDP-II) on Statistics and Research Methodology (25 February, 2020-06 March, 2020, Saturday included) about 35 participants attended this workshop. The programme was conducted in a modular form, any participant who wishes to do for 5 days as FDP will be given permission for the same. Participant who attends for complete 10 days will be given Certificate in Refresher Ten Days Faculty Development Programme.
 
STRIDE Organized Faculty Development Programme on Integrating Technologies in Open Distance Learning from 24-28 February, 2020. About 22 participants had attended this workshop. Open and Distance Learning has emerged as a powerful tool for augmenting opportunities for higher education. Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) have created significant impact on delivery of distance learning programmes. Interactive technologies facilitate learner centric education and help to improve the process of teaching and learning in distance education by expanding the scope and content of curriculum.
