Dr. Gloria Kuzur

Assistant Professor

 Dr.Gloria Kuzur, is an Assistant Professor in Distance Education at the Staff Training and Research Institute, Indira Gandhi National Open University since November 2021. A Geography Graduate, she has M.A., M.Phil. and Ph.D. in Geography from the Centre for the Study of Regional Development, School of Social Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Prior to joining IGNOU, she was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography, Central University of Haryana, Mahendergarh. She started her teaching from the Women’s College, Calcutta (University of Calcutta) in 2008 followed by Nirmala College, Ranchi (Ranchi University) and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Evening College, Delhi (University of Delhi). She has also worked as a Research Associate with the Institute for Studies inIndustrial Development (ISID), New Delhi and has been a Post Doctoral Fellow (UGC) in Centre for the Study in Regional Development, JNU.Dr. Kuzur has successfully conducted online classes and supervised PG students in their field work and writing of Dissertations alongwith the online examination and proctoring duties. She hasbeen supervising Ph.D research scholars in Central University of Haryana. She has been active member of various committees (Examination, Admission, Promotion of Group A and Group B Employees in Central University of Haryana) in addition to the administrative experience of HOD in the Dept of Geography, Women’s College, Calcutta. Her areas of specialization are Regional Development and Planning, Social Exclusion and Socio-Spatial Deprivation in Education among Tribes, Historical Geography and Colonial Cartography, and Gender Geography.

Dr. Kuzur received Travel Grant awarded by American Friends of the J.B. Harley Research Fellowships, Inc.to attend and present paper at the International Conference on the History of Cartography (ICHC) held in Amsterdam in July 2019;Travel Grant awarded by ICSSR to participate in the 16th International Conference of Historical Geographers (ICHG) held at the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) in London in July 2015; Post-Doctoral Fellowship to Women Candidates by UGC for five years in April, 2014 (availed); Post-Doctoral Fellowship by ICSSR for two years from ICSSR, March, 2014 (not availed); Young Geographer Award (First position) for the presentation of paper in the National Seminar on Recent Advances in the Development of Geographical Knowledge and its Interdisciplinary Association with Sciences organized in the Dept. of Geography, BHU, Nov. 2011; and National Scholarships Scheme, 2001-2002 of Government of India on the result of B.Sc. in Geography (Hons.), Part II Examination held by University of Calcutta in 2001.

She has published one book, eight research papers in national and international journals and five chapters in edited books. Dr. Kuzur has contributed and made academic presentations in various national and international seminars India as well as abroad in London (UK), and Warsaw (Poland) and Amsterdam (The Netherlands).She has been active in the field based research among the deprived communities.
